Introduction to Geocaching (Sandwich): Mar 31, 2012

Geocaching is a worldwide outdoor treasuring hunting game enjoyed by people of all ages. Using GPS-enabled devices, geocachers navigate to a specific set of coordinates and then attempt to find the cache (container) hidden at that location. Girl Scouts especially enjoy geocaching because it combines a fun outdoor experience (hiking in the woods or traversing the streets of Boston) with treasure hunting! After completing this session, participants will be able to guide girls in planning their own geocaching adventure. Topics include: finding a cache; basic navigation tips; Leave No Trace principles; and safety activity checkpoints. This is a great session for volunteers working with Girl Scout Juniors earning their Geocaching badge or to help girls plan field trips to accompany It’s Your Story: Tell It and It’s Your Planet: Love It journeys.

Recommended for volunteers working with Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts.

GPS or smartphone device recommended. Please bring water and a snack.

Introduction to Geocaching (Milton): Apr 21, 2012

This celebration will include the annual meeting, volunteer recognitions, workshops and two keynote speakers! Please join us in celebrating the success of our council at the Annual Meeting; be inspired by keynote speaker Mel Robbins, America’s Life Coach; enjoy a beautiful luncheon with Girl Scout friends, followed by volunteer recognition presentation by former Girl Scouts of the USA CEO and author of Tough Cookies, Kathy Cloninger; and end the day in workshops that will inspire and motivate you.
