Your troop will want to be part of the
Fall Sale of Magazine Subscriptions, Nuts and Candy!

  • Get organized quicker with an early-season activity!
  • New troops can earn early start-up funds
  • This is a great training activity to prepare your Daisy troop for the cookie sale
  • Booth sales have no risk to your troop; pay only for what you sell and return the rest.
  • Your Communities (Service Unit/Neighborhood) can earn funds: 5% of the magazine total sale
  • Troops earn 10% of the cost of each subscription, and $1 from each can of nuts or candy sold
  • This fall product sale is entirely optional. The fall revenue will benefit your troop, but you are not required to participate. Please note that troops must participate in the cookie sale to be eligible to run other fundraisers.

QSP

QSP is the Family Subscription Sale activity of Reader's Digest. Family and friends renew their subscriptions and place new orders, with 10% of the price of each item going to the troop treasury. The Service Units who participate will receive an additional 5%. Even if QSP is sold at one school in your town, you can make this fund-raiser available to the troops of other levels.

The Be a Reader program is a literacy support program run by QSP, a subsidiary of Readers' Digest. This is a reputable organization whose mission includes funding and supporting Girl Scout activities.

This program is simple….just about everyone purchases magazine, music CDs and books.

  • Families and friends can purchase or renew their favorite publications through the Girl Scouts.
  • Customers save up to 75% off newsstand prices
  • The troop gets the proceeds, not the publisher
  • Order new subscriptions
  • Renew current subscriptions, no matter when they expire
  • Order magazines as gifts
  • A great selection of over 700 magazines
  • Magazines are an excellent way to promote reading, especially reading for fun and personal pleasure
  • Music CDs and books are also available
  • Girls may invite their relatives to order subscriptions online; if the order is placed by the troop deadline, the troop receives 10% revenue for the sale
  • Girls can also fill out a postcard to invite their relatives to participate

Nuts and Candy

Delicious products from Ashdon Farms are available for sale this fall:

  • Peanut Butter Dreams
  • Deluxe Pecan Clusters
  • Chocolate Covered Raisins
  • Whole Cashews
  • Mint Meltaways
  • Fruit Slices
  • Malted Milk Balls
  • Honey Roasted Peanuts
  • Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels
  • Trail Mix

Customers buy these products for $5-7 and your troop earns $1/item.

  • Sell with order cards. Your customers pay you right away, so the first week of November, you just have to deliver the products
  • Set up a weekend booth sale. Sign out cases of the top 5 varieties and bring back your payment the next week. 4 weeks only; September 20 thru October 11. Pickup on the Thursday or Friday, and return payment by Wednesday. Candy cupboards will be at each field office. (Hours to be announced)

For more guidelines about Troop Budgets, money earning activities and Council Sponsored Product Sales, Troop volunteers are asked to carefully review Safety Wise Chapter 3, and Standards 28-31.

Go to http://www.alschutzman.com/observeandconserve/ for goal posters, learning info

In addition to earning important funds to meet their troop goals, girls will also learn the value of preserving our world. Each troop receives a full color glossy instruction packet with challenges and ideas for each of the 6 Leadership Levels. Girls discover, connect and take action as they learn about trash, recycling, conserving energy, using resources wisely, and environmental careers.
