Regional Delegate Election Meetings and Slates Announced

Number of Delegates, Source of Candidates

The minimum number of delegates for 2008 according to the by-laws is 75. The CRC decided on 76 delegates: 19 from each of four governance regions, based on a fairly even distribution of girl members.  There will be 9 Alternate Delegates in each region, also. The Board will appoint Alternates to fill any vacancies that occur in Delegate positions over time.

A slate of delegates and alternates for each region was assembled from nominations gathered during the first half of January. The slates for each region represents a cross section of the membership over the age of 14, including troop volunteers from all program levels, past Board and Nominating Committee members, and community and professional leaders. They are diverse in race, ethnicity and gender and come from urban, suburban and rural communities.  All delegates are registered members of Girls Scouts.
