With troops: a choice of Monster Camping (J), May 30 - June 1, June 13-15, WIP, $12pg; or Brownie Camping, June 6-7, June 7-8, WIP, $10pg
Some troops begin their outdoor adventures with a day trip or an overnight at a Girl Scout lodge before they venture outdoors to sleep in tents. To prepare for these trips, one member of a leadership team must complete the Troop Camping Skills course.
Troop Camping
Skills, Part 1
Volunteers take Part 1 at home, through a workbook of activities. It will be mailed to you
approximately 2 weeks before the Part 2 session for which you are
registered.
Troop Camping Skills, Part 2
Go to one of our camps, where you will learn about safety, camping
facilities, basic fire building, outdoor living and programming. This is an
introductory, hands-on experience on important outdoor skills. Volunteers
who complete Parts 1 and 2 may take a troop lodge (not tent) camping at
GSEM camps.
Troop Camping Skills, Part 3
This course builds on the skills learned in Parts 1 and 2. Completion of
Parts 1, 2 and 3 is required preparation for taking troops camping in tents.
Volunteers will sleep in tents and cook, eat and clean up outdoors.
Volunteers may choose to take Part 3 with or without their troops.
